Daddy, where are you?
I can't see you in your face.
The monster in the bottle
Your countenance replaced.
I looked into your eyes,
Thought I might find you there;
Instead I saw the monster
Who sneaks in through the beer.
I'm starting to get worried
For your hands are empty too.
No warmth or caring in their touch
Daddy, where are you?
I waited as a little girl
Through crazed laughter, then the rage.
I waited for you through tears and time
To come back from that state.
I'll always hate the monster
That takes my dad from me,
Yet I open up that bottle,
Let it do the same to me.
