family order

i disrupted the order
just fifteen minutes
of alone time
letting the hot water fall
alone, relaxed
the first shower i’ve had
all week
with more than three minutes
of that precious hot water.
i’m always the last
after the kids
after him
i eat the leftover dinner
use the towel off the floor
and use whatever
hot water remains.
but today i got in first
i washed my hair
AND shaved my legs
and from him i get the cold shoulder
slammed doors
for not sharing my quiet time
for not sharing my water
for making him use the leftovers.
